Alex Rodriguez Comes Clean
February 17th 2009 19:44
Five years ago to the day the Yankees held a press conference introducing Alex Rodriguez to the New York media, and now everybody is gathering for different circumstances.
Rodriguez started his press conference by stating the substance came from an energy substance him and his cousin bought in the Dominican Republic and was injected with the substance for three years.
“We used the substance twice a month for six months and it was evident didn’t know what we were doing”
Rodriguez stopped using the energy boost when he got a serious neck injury that he felt could ruin his career and life after baseball, and he also knew baseball was starting to test in 2003. Rodriguez said he was naïve and young and didn’t do research on what he was putting in his body.
He said he never thought about if he would have come clean if this didn’t come out publicly. He had ample opportunity to come clean and could have sat at the podium with Andy Pettitte last season, but he hid in the shadow. He denied using any banned substances because he thought after five years it would not become public knowledge.
He has tried to make this public image for himself and everything has backfired in his face from lying about steroids to allegedly committing adultery. His work ethnic is great but off the field he is not somebody you want your kids to look up to and resemble. He gave new information and didn’t hide from any questions. Now we have to assume the information is accurate.
