Gavin Floyd was so close to history; Where is the old Andruw Jones?

White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd was two-outs away from throwing a no-hitter before Twins catcher Joe Mauer broke it up with a double in the ninth inning. Ozzie Guillen made a pitching change after he allowed the hit and went with Bobby Jenks. Guillen should have given Floyd the chance for the complete game. The score was 7-1. If they continued to get hits then I can see making the change but let him pitch to at least two more batters. Everybody is so worried about the pitch count, but he probably would have thrown around 15-20 pitches the most. If you are in a fantasy league where they count complete games you are upset at the move because Guillen just cost you winning the category. There isn't many complete games per week unless you have Roy Halladay.
The Mets started Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers with some offense, scoring four runs in the first three innings, but cooled down quickly. They were shut down by Hong-Chih Kuo and the rest of the bullpen and lost 5-4 on Blake DeWitt's inside-the-park home run. Kuo had eight strikeouts in three innings of relief. The Mets were without Carlos Beltran because he was scratched late with flu-like symptoms. He is batting .219 so that wasn’t the reason behind the lack of offense. Usually the bullpen is to blame but all the runs were charged to starter Nelson Figueroa. They are a very inconsistent team which has trouble putting all the pieces together. They go out to Arizona and take a series from the best team in the National League and you think they could compete with the best, but then they lose two straight to the Dodgers. Granted the Dodgers are playing very well but when you score four runs in the first three innings you need to find ways to hold on to the lead.
What has happened to Andruw Jones? He is batting .162 with 1 HR, 4 RBI and 14 runs scored. Joe Torre is rotating his outfielders, which include Jones, Juan Pierre, Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp, but Jones should be the one sitting most of the games, despite his $36.2 million, two-year contract. He batted .222 last season so the money wasn't awarded to him for last year's performance. It was given to him when he hit a combined 92 homes runs in 2005 and 2006. He has a .261 lifetime batting average and he is already 31-years-old, which might not be correct. Jones is starting to show there isn’t much left in the tank. If he continues hitting like this I don't see how Torre could play him ahead of Pierre, Ethier or Kemp, even if he is making over $18 million this season.
