Joe Torre and the Dodgers

Joe Torre has the Dodgers moving in the right direction. They have won seven straight games including wins over the Rockies and Marlins. The Rockies have been struggling this season but they are still a quality team and the Marlins are only a half a game out of first place in the NL East. I am not a fan of Joe Torre and never have been. When the Yankees were a dynasty in the '90's anybody could have managed those teams and won. I don't believe that he had to maintain the morale of the team and manage egos. Players will put aside egos and anything else if they are getting playing time and winning. They read the memo before they sign with the Yankees so they know the rules and what is expected of them.
Players don't complain when they are winning so I don't believe Torre had to do anything but fill out the same lineup card every night and have the best seat in the house. His challenge is going over to the National League because now he has to manage. It's a different ballgame when the designated hitter isn't involved. Torre never had success in the National League before. He was a combined 894-1003 with the Mets, Braves and Cardinals. My prediction is that the Dodgers will finish around .500 and miss the playoffs.
