The Major League Baseball season is back and there has already been some great highlights to the season, and also some sadness and tragedy. Here are some of the storylines from the first week in baseball.
The sudden death of Angels’ pitcher Nick Adenhart in a car accident shocked the baseball world and the Angels family. He was a talented prospect who had a bright future in major league baseball. He pitched six shutout innings on the night he was killed.
The Pirates turned a triple play against the Reds on Sunday, but lost 2-0.
Diamondbacks placed pitcher Brandon Webb on the disabled list after experiencing shoulder stiffness. The MRI did not reveal any structural damage.
Former All-Star Roy Oswalt, Cole Hamels and 2008 AL Cy Young winner Cliff Lee got shelled in their first starts of the 2009 season
The Royals, Padres, Pirates and Orioles are still in the playoff race.
The Nationals are the only winless team in the league.
Evan Longoria hit 5 home runs
Miguel Cabrera has a 6 RBI game on Friday night and Albert Pujols goes for 7 RBI on Saturday
