Ron Wasington on Hot Seat

OH MAN. Ron Washington might be the first manager this season receiving his pink slip. The Rangers are trying to avoid losing their 7th straight game but they are losing 5-2 in the 6th inning as I'm writing this. Going into Thursday, the pitching staff allowed 37 runs the last three games.
The pitching staff is awful and Washington is going to take the blame. Maybe the front office should be blamed because once again they didn't find pitching this offseason. Instead they trade prospect pitcher Edison Volquez to the Reds for Josh Hamilton and so far Volquez is 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA in his first major league season. Good luck to the next manager if Washington goes.
An interesting week for major leaguer Dan Johnson. The Rays claimed Johnson off waivers on Tuesday and brought him, his wife and two young sons to Orlando to join the team. His era on the team lasted one day after he was released Wednesday when the Rays traded for Gabe Gross. In total it cost the Rays $40,000 in waiver fees, travel expenses, salary, and meal money. A very awkward situation for Johnson and the team. He thinks he is getting a fresh start with a new organization and turns out to be an unfortunate circumstance. Hopefully somebody signs him or he decides to report to Triple-A.
Congrats to the Cubs for winning their 10,000 game in franchise history. Hopefully some of the next 10,000 wins will come in a World Series. I'm not a Cubs fan but it's hard not to cheer for the franchise when they are in the playoffs.
