Mets 5 Brewers 4 – Gary Sheffield becomes the 25th player to his 500th home run, leading off the 7th inning with a game-tying shot off Mitch Stetter. Luis Castillo won the game for the Mets on an infield single in the 9th inning.
Red Sox 10 Orioles 8 – Brad Penny allowed eight runs in three innings, but the Red Sox were able to overcome a seven-run deficit to defeat the Orioles. J.D. Drew and Jason Bay both homered. Nick Markakis had a grand slam and five RBIs.
Yankees 6 Indians 5 – Yankees win their first game at Yankee Stadium after Derek Jeter hits a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning and Mariano Rivera shuts the Indians down in the ninth. The Yankees bullpen held the Indians scoreless for four-plus innings, allowing just three hits.
Twins 11 Angels 9 – Jason Kubel becomes the third player already this season to hit for the cycle. He sealed the deal by hitting a grand slam in the eight inning. Denard Span and Brandon Harris both had two RBIs. Chone Figgins went 3-for-5, with two runs scored.
Reds 2 Astros 1 – Ramon Hernandez hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning off Astros’ closer Jose Valverde. Roy Oswalt pitched like his old self, allowing no runs in six innings. Johnny Cueto only allowed one run, but walked six in four-plus innings.
