Mariners 3 Angels 2 – Mariners’ Franklin Guttierez doubled and scored on a throwing error in the 10th inning to give the Mariners a win in their home opener. Carlos Silva allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings pitched.
Marlins 5 Braves 1 – Chris Volstad allowed a home run by Kelly Johnson in the third inning, but that was the offensive production the Braves could find. Volstad pitched seven strong innings, allowing three hits and striking out four. Javier Vazquez struck out 12 batters, but allowed three runs in six innings pitched. Dan Uggla had two hits and three RBIs.
Yankees 7 Rays 2 – A.J. Burnett took a no-hitter into the seventh inning until Carl Crawford singled to left field. The Rays tied the game at 2-2, but the Yankees blew the doors open in the ninth inning, scoring four runs off Rays reliever Dan Wheeler. Burnett allowed two runs on three hits in eight innings pitched.
Blues Jays 2 Twins 3 – Twins win in the 11th inning after stellar performances by both starting pitchers. Twins pitcher Glen Perkins pitched eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. For his second straight start, Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero allowed only two runs but failed to get any run support.
Orioles 7 Rangers 5 – Eddie Guardado allowed two home runs in the 10th inning, as the Rangers fell to the Orioles. Luke Scott and Adam Jones homered and drove-in three runs. Alfredo Simon left in the second inning after experiencing shoulder discomfort.
