Yankees Get Embarassed and Manny Ramirez Reaches Milestone

Indians 22 Yankees 4 – Chien-Ming Wang’s struggles continue as he didn’t make it through the 2nd inning. He allowed eight runs in one-plus innings and started the Indians offensive onslaught in the 2nd inning when they scored 14 runs. Mark DeRosa went 4-for-7, including a home run and 6 RBIs. The Indians combined for six home runs.

Pirates 10 Braves 0 – Craig Monroe had two home runs and six RBIs as the Pirates shut out the Braves for the second straight day. The Braves have lost five straight games. Ian Snell pitched another gem, allowing four hits in seven innings. Ryan Doumit hit three doubles in four at-bats.


Marlins 9 Nationals 6 (11 inn) –Marlins win their 10th game this season, and second straight in extra innings, as they come from 6-2 down to defeat the Nationals. Josh Johnson allowed six runs in six inning pitched, but the bullpen was able to pitch five scoreless innings. Jeremy Hermida cranked two home runs, one in the ninth and a game-winning three-run home run in the 11th inning. Austin Kearns hit a grand slam in the 1st, and Nick Johnson had an RBI single in the 2nd.

Mets 1 Brewers 0 – Johan Santana pitched another excellent game as he held the Brewers scoreless for seven innings and improved his ERA to 0.47 this season. This time he was able to record the win as the Mets scored the lone run in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI groundout by Jose Reyes. Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo held the Mets scoreless for six innings, allowing five hits and striking out seven.

Blue Jays 4 A’s 2 (12 inn) – Lyle Overbay hit a walk-off two run home run as the Blue Jays improved their record to 9-4. The Blue Jays held the A’s scoreless, allowing only one hit over six-plus innings. Rookie Travis Snider only had one hit but two RBIs.


Cubs 7 Cardinals 5 – After dealing with injuries at the beginning of the week, Aramis Ramiez comes through and hit a walk-off two-run home run in the 11th inning. Derrek Lee and Aaron Miles had two RBIs for the Cubs.

Astros 7 Reds 0 – Wandy Rodriguez shut down one of the best offensive teams in the National League, holding the Reds to only two hits and matching a career high of 10 strikeouts. Carlos Lee went 3-for-3, with an RBI and two runs scored.

Dodgers 9 Rockies 5 – Dodgers win 7th straight and Manny Ramirez becomes the 11th active player to hit a home run against every MLB team. He hit a home run in the 1st and followed that up with another one in the 3rd inning. Andre Ethier also hit two home runs and had four RBIs. Chad Billingsley improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs in six innings pitched.
