Yankees Interested in Brian Fuentes
June 3rd 2008 00:46
According to The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck, the Yankees are interested in Rockies closer Brian Fuentes to become a late-inning setup man. The Yankees are looking to replace Joba Chamberlain after moving him to the starting rotation. The bullpen is ranked seventh in the American League with a 3.62 ERA and has allowed 172 hits, third-worst in the league. LaTroy Hawkins and Kyle Farnsworth are not the answer so they might turn to Edwar Ramirez to fill the role until they can find somebody. Ramirez has allowed only one earned run in 16 innings and has recorded 15 strikeouts. If the price for Fuentes is too high, Brian Cashman might turn to Pirates reliever Damaso Marte.
